The Mulberry R&D Program develops and improves mulberry varieties while supporting sustainable sericulture farming.

The program collects indigenous and exotic mulberry varieties and maintains them in a germplasm bank for evaluation, documentation, and improvement through breeding techniques, including open-pollinated selection. It also implements cultural management practices to control pests and diseases and develops integrated sericulture-based farming systems that combine crops, animals, and low-cost management methods to ensure year-round production of high-quality mulberry leaves.
